7 Tips to Inspire You in Business and Create Your Own Success

Being in Business, especially if it’s just you, can be very stressful, but also very exciting. It can be truly the changing point in your life.

Trying to understand what you need to keep yourself motivated and taking action is a wonderful starting point to keep you going.

“The most difficult thing is the decision to act, the rest is merely tenacity” by Amelia Earhart.

By emulating those who have already achieved success,  you can see that not only is that success is achievable, but it’s an excellent motivational start.

Now even though everyone’s definition of success can be different, the key aspects that define success seem to remain the same across the board. A successful person tends to be someone who has made an impact; whether financially, socially, spiritually, emotionally or some other way.

Looking at a whole lot of different successful people, I have come up with this list to get you started.

1. Do Something You Care About

Getting up every day and keeping yourself going is so much easier when you are doing something that you love and are passionate about. It doesn’t have to be the thing you are 100% passionate about, but you need to like it enough that you are willing to talk about it. It makes the first morning thought to change from ‘oh another day’ to ‘brilliant another day that I can work with’. That initial drive and passion will help you not only achieve more each day, but it’ll make it easier to focus on the task at hand.

“There is no end. There is no beginning. There is only the passion of life.” – Federico Fellini

2. What’s Your Dream

Seeing what you want and where you are going is a powerful motivator. I spent nearly a year trying new things, and fluffing around until I realised that I wanted to teach the business of business not just something else. The minute I saw the whole dream come together and where I was going, everything changed instantly (maybe only in my head, but that is really where it starts), and I could take action.

“The key to realizing a dream is to focus not on success but on significance–and then even the small steps and little victories along your path will take on greater meaning.”

3. Go For It

Taking the risk and doing it! If you don’t try, you will never succeed. No action means no results, so learn and take action. Yes, sometimes (many times) you will get it wrong and must do it again and again. But you will learn to work out a better solution, every step is a step towards your dream.

“You only have to do a very few things right in your life so long as you don’t do too many things wrong.” – Warren Buffet

4. Get Uncomfortable

Now, this is a big one, and the reason many people fail in business. Many people stay in a comfortable zone, and this zone is where most of us like being in, it’s safe and familiar. Even with businesses the ones that do succeed are the ones that step out of their zone and take a risk, be uncomfortable.

What I mean by that is that most people simply don’t push themselves to do the things that are a little harder or a little more time-consuming. Maybe it’s doing daily emails or a live webinar or writing something personal each day. Only you know what is and isn’t comfortable for you to push yourself until the uncomfortable becomes comfortable and then find a something else that is uncomfortable and do it again.

“Sometimes the questions are complicated, and the answers are simple.” ― Dr Seuss

5. Believe In You!

Now I was going to put this point as the first point as it’s so essential, but I feel it fits better here. Being in a business can be stressful, and if you get defeated every time something goes wrong (and it will), you may not get very far or even start.

As Henry Ford said “Whether you think you can, or you think you can’t you are right”.

Believe in yourself and back yourself 100% as if you don’t, how can anyone else? Sure, motivation from others can definitely help, but if you aren’t motivated or even believe that you can do something, you won’t get very far because there will always be that doubt in the back of your head.

When obstacles come along don’t see them as a setback but instead part of the process to learn more and prove your determination. Some days it feels like two steps forward, three step back and maybe one step forward again, but have belief in yourself. Allow yourself to see past these setbacks and appreciate the process.

“There is no passion to be found playing small – in settling for a life that is less than the one you are capable of living.” —Nelson Mandela

6. Value Your Time

Remember being in business is more of a marathon than a sprint, and you need to pace yourself. Take the time for your business, and use it well. Have systems in place to make your time more efficient. Have a schedule (but don’t make it so rigid you can’t fit in the unexpected). Complete tasks so you can move onto the next one because remember most ‘overnight successes’ took years to become one.

“I’m convinced that about half of what separates the successful entrepreneurs from the non-successful ones is pure perseverance.” – Steve Jobs

7. Change your Dream into Goals

“It does not do to dwell on dreams and forget to live.” ― J.K. Rowling

Yes, you start with a dream, (and make sure you can really see it in your imagination) but until you change it to actionable goals, you may always only be chasing your dream. Think about when you want to achieve the dream, how many years away and then work back to the present day and add a point of action and goals you can take to work towards your dream.

Now these tips are just a few things to think about when you are in business especially if it’s just you in front of your computer, or easel, or doing one on one coaching, but it’s a place to start. So, take action today and change that dream into a Goal and become the successful person you can be.

“Don’t be afraid to be ambitious about your goals. Hard work never stops. Neither should your dreams.” – Dwayne Johnson
