Custom Commissions

Have a space that needs something special? A vision that hasn’t been painted yet? Let’s talk.

Sometimes, the perfect piece doesn’t exist yet. It’s still sitting in your imagination, waiting for someone to bring it to life.

I love commissions. They give me a chance to explore new subjects, new colours, and new stories that I might not have discovered on my own. Whether it’s a beloved family pet, a cherished landscape, or a symbol that holds deep meaning for you, let’s bring it out of the dark together, and let the story surface.

How it works

Step 1: The Conversation

You reach out through the form below. Tell me what you are imagining — the subject, the mood, the size, and any reference images or inspiration you have. The more you share, the better I can understand your vision.

Step 2: The Concept

I will get back to you with a rough concept, a general idea of the composition, and a quote for the piece. This is the time to ask questions, tweak the vision, and make sure we are on the same page.

Step 3: The Commission

Once we agree on the concept and the price, I will send you a formal commission agreement. This outlines the timeline, the size, the price, and the payment terms. I ask for a 50% deposit to secure your spot in my studio, and the remaining 50% is due upon completion.

Step 4: The Creation

I start painting. I work in the Active Void technique, building the dark gesso void, then adding pure white acrylic to let the subject surface. I will send you progress updates along the way, so you can watch the piece come to life.

Step 5: The Arrival

Once the painting is finished, signed, and sealed with a protective varnish, I will send you a photo for final approval. When you give the green light, I carefully pack the piece and ship it to you with a signed Certificate of Authenticity and a Provenance Card.

What I can (and can’t) paint

I love painting

  • Australian wildlife (koalas, possums, kangaroos, birds, reptiles)
  • Deep-sea creatures (octopus, jellyfish, turtles, mermaids)
  • Symbolic or mythological subjects
  • Landscapes with a moody, high-contrast feel
  • Personal symbols or meaningful objects

I don’t usually paint

  • Hyper-realistic portraits of humans (I tend to focus on the negative space and large brushstrokes)
  • Bright, colourful, busy scenes (my style is dark, minimal, high-contrast)

If you are unsure whether your idea fits my style, just ask. I am always open to a conversation.

Pricing & Timeline

Size: All commissions are painted using acrylic and the Active Void technique I am happy to work on paper or canvas.

Price: Commissions start at $550 USD for a single piece. The final price depends on the complexity of the subject and the level of detail involved and the size of paper or optional canvas.

Timeline: Depending on my current studio schedule, a commission typically takes between 2 to 4 weeks from deposit to completion. I will give you a specific timeline when we agree on the project.
