Print & Frame Guide

A little practical advice for getting your artwork onto the wall and keeping it looking beautiful.

When Your Artwork Arrives

Original Paintings

Carefully unpack your painting and check its condition when it arrives. Handle it by the edges where possible, and avoid touching the painted surface unnecessarily.

Original paintings may be available with framing options, depending on the artwork and its eBay listing.

Fine-Art Prints

Unframed paper prints may arrive rolled in protective packaging, while smaller prints may arrive flat.

If your print arrives rolled, carefully remove it from its packaging and allow it to relax naturally on a clean, dry, flat surface. Avoid forcing it flat or placing heavy objects directly on the printed surface.

Framed prints are packaged for delivery according to the print provider’s arrangements.

Framing Your Artwork

Original Paintings

I offer framing options for my original paintings, including floating frames, box frames and traditional frames with mats.

If you’re purchasing an original through eBay, you’re welcome to contact me to discuss the framing options available for that particular painting.

Fine-Art Prints

Fine-art prints are available framed or unframed through Etsy.

Choose a framed print that’s ready to display, or select an unframed print and find a frame that suits your own space.

Framing It Yourself

If you’re framing a paper print yourself, you can choose a frame that fits the artwork or use a larger frame with a mat to create some breathing room around the image.

Choose materials suitable for preserving artwork, and avoid having the printed surface pressed directly against ordinary glass.

Hanging Your Artwork

A few simple guidelines:

  • Hang artwork around eye level, adjusting for the room and furniture.
  • Above a sofa, bed or console, leave enough space for the artwork to feel connected to the furniture rather than floating too high.
  • Use wall fixings appropriate for the weight of the frame and your wall type.
  • Avoid prolonged direct sunlight, excessive humidity and areas exposed to heat.
  • When hanging several pieces together, consider their spacing and overall balance.

Caring for Your Artwork

Original Acrylic Paintings

Keep your painting away from prolonged direct sunlight, excessive moisture and extreme temperatures.

Dust gently with a clean, dry, soft cloth or brush. Avoid household cleaners, solvents and abrasive materials.

Fine-Art Paper Prints

Handle prints with clean, dry hands, preferably by the edges.

Protect them from moisture, prolonged direct sunlight and direct contact with unsuitable framing materials.

Certificates of Authenticity

If your original painting comes with a Certificate of Authenticity, keep it somewhere safe with your artwork records.
