Tina Fletcher
I am an Australian artist working primarily in acrylic. My current paintings often use monochrome, selective light and generous negative space. I make work about animals, people, sea creatures, unusual characters and whatever else catches my attention.
The work is not limited to one subject or formula. I leave some things unresolved, so you can bring your own response to the image. A painting can connect with you, or you can simply like it and want to live with it. Either is enough.
The work
Composition, contrast and painterly marks matter to me. I like images that make sense from a distance and reward a closer look. Some subjects are familiar, with something slightly strange or unexpected in the way they appear.
A little about my background
I spent thirty years working in graphic design and web development before making more time for painting. That experience still influences how I think about composition, contrast and what to leave out.
